- The sudden and dramatic exit of Team India from the race for the semi-finals of the ICC World Twenty- 20 Cup 2009 has shocked onlookers and confounded experts. Being the joint favourites along with South Africa for winning the Cup, the defending champions displayed a lack of innovation as also the absence of sheer desperation that resulted in their amazing success in South Africa in 2007 when they lifted the trophy as rank outsiders. The ten main reasons that led to their shocking elimination are - Complacency - There seemed to be an air of 'nothing-can-go-wrong' in the team's approach. They appeared to feel all along that the Cup was rightfully theirs and that no other team had the fire power to gun them down. That they lost to both the West Indies and England, two of the less formidable teams in the draw, indicated a sense of false superiority which did not result in runs on the board or wickets in the bag.
Sehwag's unavailability - Despite a star-studded line-up, India had no other batsman who could scare the wits out of the opposition bowlers quite like Virender Sehwag does. Yuvraj Singh is India's batting hero in this version of the game, but the task proved too much even for him, in the absence of the Sultan of Multan, whose shoulder injury cost India dear
- Wrong team selection - India bungled by playing an extra bowler in a batsman oriented format of the game. As a result, there was not enough ammunition in the late middle order to test the opposition seriously enough. Dinesh Karthik should have played instead of Ravinder Jadeja in the match against England. Yusuf Pathan and Rohit Sharma could have bowled spin along with Yuvraj Singh to fill the breach. Ishant Sharma could have been dropped in favour of Praveen Kumar whose swing bowling was suited to English conditions. RP Singh should have played all the matches, given that he was the highest wicket taker in the IPL, and the in-form bowler in the team!
Fielding lapses - In the match against the West Indies especially and also on some other occasions, misfielding hurt India badly. Two clear boundaries went through the legs of the fielders against the Windies, and could have made the difference in a close match. More over, India's field placing was such that the slower fielders in the team found the ball coming towards them on more occasions than did the best fielders. Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan were cases in point!
- Easy early matches - A factor that Team India could not do anything about, given their top-seeded billing! They had Bangladesh and Ireland for company in their group and found them to be easy meat. But the lack of serious opposition at that stage meant that they had to suddenly up the ante against better teams in the super-league, which they could not manage!
- Jadeja's dilemma - By pushing green-horn Ravinder Jadeja up the order the team management exposed him to some accurate and hostile bowling from the England pacers in the crucial tie at Lords. Jadeja is a talented player and had claimed two key wickets with his left-arm spin earlier in the match but he appeared to be overawed by the occasion and could not really handle the pressure. In a match that India lost by just 3 runs, Jadeja's 22 off 30 balls was surely a match-losing effort.
- Short-pitched challenge - The manner in which the West Indian fast bowlers, followed by their English counterparts, tested India's top order with short-pitched bowling was revelatory. Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir and Suresh Raina just could not get going and were tied down and then forced to find ungainly ways of hitting out or getting out while facing the bouncy stuff. India's top order has seldom looked as ruffled as it did in this tournament. Perhaps a realization that the conditions in England are such that they require pure cricketing shots in the first few overs may have done the trick.
Dhoni was out of sorts - Captain cool, MS Dhoni kept wickets reasonably well, and marshalled his forces to the best of his ability, but his batting was a let down. Even in the match against England when he and Pathan almost chased down the target, he could not really get the big shots going. His bat seemed to have lost its potency, for his shots simply lacked the explosiveness that they are known for.
- Media trouble - Another factor was surely the off-the-field distraction especially the manner in which the Sehwag issue was dealt with. The media flayed the present Captain's attitude for the first time ever and the foolhardy attempt at displaying a sense of camaraderie by presenting the whole team at a Press conference was most bizarre.
- Too much cricket - The current Indian team plays all around the year and big matches obviously lose their aura for the players when so much cricket is played. This was the World Cup after all, but from the look of them, Team India could well have been playing any other international series. Gautam Gambhir, who has been the most prolific scorer in world cricket in the past one year, looked totally jaded, and exemplified the mal-effects of excessive international cricket. Fans of the Indian team are distraught and shocked at their early exit from the ICC World Twenty 20. Let's see if the team can re-group from here and win back our admiration in the coming months.

Ten reasons why Team India crashed out
I am not jobless clarifying rumors’ Nayanthara
I have not kissed Bharath” says Thamanna

Thamanna is now quite busy after acting with Surya in Ayan. There is a stiff competition between the top actors to pair with her. She is in high demand now. Now she is acting with Bharath in the film Kandein Kadhalai. There was news recently about Thamanna relaxing her norms and has agreed to do the kissing scene in Kandein Kadhalai. When Thamanna was asked about this, she said,” The climax scene was shot two days ago. News was spread that I have acted in kissing scene with Bharath in the climax sequence. I have not acted like that. The whole film was shot as in the original film.
Director Kannan told me the whole story before signing the agreement. This film is a remake of the Hindi film Jab We Met. In this film there is a kissing scene. So I told the director that I would be happy if this scene is deleted in the Tamil version. He has also agreed and confirmed me that there will be no kissing scene in this film. Hence there is no confusion about this. There is no such scene in this film. I only kissed Bharath on his forehead and not on his lips.”
A R Rahman to score for Vijay’s 50th film
There were a lot of discussions about who will direct the film and finally Perarasu was zeroed in. Though not confirmed by any team member, it has been heard that music maestro and Oscar winner A R Rahman will be composing the music for this flick.
It seems like Vijay is all set to make his 50th flick a memorable one.

Exclusive: Unknown facts about Actor Vijay
Exclusive: Slumdog Millionaire – 7Crores, Villu – 30 Crore

Exclusive: Actresses who should retire immediately in Kollywood
Our blog brings you the list of few actresses whom we feel should retire immediately.
1. Namitha – Of course, there are temples built for this actress and manifestations are held regularly. But then, with her bulk-sized physique she doesn’t evoke any sense of glamour and the actress looks merely awkward with any costumes. In reality, she has nothing such big fans following her. More than all, she hasn’t delivered a single good performance in any of her films.
2. Keerthi Chawla – Ask her to smile or cry, she can’t do anything and she scores 5/100 and these marks are just for her perfect looks for modeling looks for a print advertisement.
3. Sandhya – ‘Kadhal’ would have been a hit even if Balaji Sakthivel had casted someone else. The actress has tried out her best on different roles even as a mother at such an young age. Even then, nothing has worked wonders for her. She can seek for certain offers in Kerala.

4. Meenakshi – Why the hell did she get transformed into glamorous looks? To promote herself, she doesn’t spare even the public occasions as she appears in dresses stitched during her 5th standard in school… If she has plans about performing roles similar to her characterization ‘Karuppasamy Kuthagaitharar’, she can go ahead or no other options left.
5. Shriya Charan – Oops! We feel so sorry for this actress and unfortunately, we need to bring her name to the list. Shriya Charan has been constantly involved in showing her skin as much as possible, even the no-area zones. That naturally categorizes her under ‘Item Girl’ roles. Despites pairing up with big superstars, she happens to be the one and only missy on a worst career level.

What if Nayan marries Prabhu Deva?
The media persons had a hectic day recently when reports started to flow in that Nayanthara and Prabhu Deva had exchanged the marriage vows. There were also reports that the already married Prabhu Deva faced stiff opposition from his family, who took the issue to a well-established hero for an amicable settlement. While all these flurry of activities were being reported, a bolt out of the blue came in the form a morphed photograph that showed Nayan and Prabhu Deva as man and wife. The fact that it was published by a reputed magazine created a lot of hype. To make matters worse both Nayan and Prabhu Deva were not available for comments. |
Of course, fans would be keen to know every little personal detail of their stars and marriage is a big issue that every one would want to know. But in the quest to be the first in the media to serve the hot news, some unscrupulous media houses do resort to unfair practices like publishing morphed photos. Such practices are generally followed by film-based magazines whose very existence depends on film buffs. But is it pardonable if it is done be a reputed magazine? Everyone has to realize that even movie stars have a personal life; their self-esteem and privacy ought to be respected. Of course, good press covering genuine news about our favorite stars is always a delight. Like the recent marriage of Jeyam Ravi, or the Suriya-Jyothika marriage in 2006 which was perhaps one of the best covered star events in the last decade.
It does not matter if Nayan and Prabhu marry or not. If they do, it would definitely make big news in the film industry and when such announcement comes from reliable sources, media houses can publish a cover story, discuss about the legality of the marriage etc. Why do media houses publish news based on their imagination, why do they have to jump the gun? Even after 75 years of Tamil cinema, the most sought after news items are personal tidbits of stars. This shows that we have not progressed much in terms of being able to appreciate films as works of art and technology. A movie has scores of aspects to it but the media tends to start and stop with stars and music. Rarely do camera, editing, re-recording, art direction, special effects and the like get mentioned. The depths of cinema have not been brought to the people by the media, its only the surface that has been prodded. Objective and detailed coverage of all aspects of cinema will help people understand the medium better. At present, a sort of mystic air surrounds cinema, disconnecting it from the common man as something that is only a domain for stars. Only the media can demystify cinema and bring it to the people as it is. Only then will our appreciation of the medium rise above the superficial.
Considered to be the fourth estate of the democracy, why do media houses still depend on pointless gossips in the cine industry more often than not? The reasons are very obvious. At the end of the day, it is the circulation that matters and professional ethics are guillotined to give way to sensationalism. Hoping for better press!
Nayantara’s tattoo for Prabhu Deva

If Nayantara’s clandestine marriage with Prabhu Deva has sparked flames, then there are more shockers coming our way. Nayantara may be having a flagging career, but the Lady surely knows how to hold on to her star image.
When the audiences were shell-shocked by the marriage news, the actress declined it vehemently by saying that she would not indulge in anything in secrecy and that the entire cooked up story is absurd. However Prabhu Deva was not available for any comments. When we wanted to believe her, new evidences have fortified our doubts further.
Nayantara was seen in Hyderabad for the launch of a Hakim’s Alim tattoo store and what was really glaring was a tattoo a little above her wrist. The tattoo had the letter ‘P’ in English and the rest in Tamil, which reads as Prabhu Deva. The most befitting way to launch a tattoo lounge!
The sensational queen had her clarifications ready. She said that her admiration for Prabhu Deva as a person and towards his professional commitment was expressed in the form of a tattoo. Nayantara advised the media to indulge in sensible news coverage rather than prowling on her personal life. She minced no words in saying that she is hardly bothered by these trivial news.
Nayantara disclosed that it is a temporary tattoo. Are there any hidden signals for Prabhu Deva, that the lady may search for greener pastures in future. Well, till we get a confirmation regarding the marriage, there are more crackers in store.
Prabhu Deva secretly marries Nayantara

This is really a shocking news for Tamil cinema fans and shows how the tinsel world loses its morality with such kind of indecent proposals.
There have been strong rumours about the close relationship between Prabhu Deva – Nayantara for the past few months.
According to reports, Prabhu Deva, the father of three children and husband of the former dancer Ramlath fell in love with Nayantara during Villu shooting time.
Now that secret affair has come to an end with the marriage of both the stars. According to sources, both Prabhu Deva and Nayantara have been living together for the past 3 weeks and the marriage was held in Hyderabad secretly.
Prabhu Deva has fled to an unknown place stating that he has some works in a Hindi project. Meanwhile Nayantara has reacted sharply to the marriage news.
According to the actress, there is no necessity to her to hide the matter. “I will reveal everything, when I consider it is necessary. Otherwise media should keep quiet on this issue..”, she said.
