How To Save A Complete Webpage For Offline Reading

Save a complete page so that I can read it later? Why would I need to do that? After all, don’t we have those things called bookmarks? That’s fine as long as the web connection holds. Even a simple thing as a journey from Point A to Point B could take us away from our 24 hour plugged in lives. We have got so used to the web, that the information so readily available is taken almost for granted.

Then there are some webpages which have snippets of information that’s like gold dust. With the web as it is, the important content could go down tomorrow with the website shutting down or just having a server catastrophe. Call me paranoid, but when I come across a nugget of web information, there are times when I like to save the entire webpage in its exact glory. Copy-pasting it into MS Word would of course, be a simpler way.


But why go that route when one has a few other options to save a webpage for offline reading. These few ways could help us keep our favorite webpages close by, to be read when we need to.
Saving Complete Webpages With Save As

I am probably wasting a few lines here but all browsers have the feature to save complete webpages. They have had it since the early days. It’s a simple one click saving job and here’s how it’s done in three of our popular browsers.



Firefox

From the menu, click on File ““ Save Page As”¦ (Or alternatively, press Ctrl+S).



The Save As dialog window appears. Select Web Page, complete in the Save as typedropdown.



The webpage is saved as a set of HTML file and a folder that holds the other elements of the page.



Firefox’s page saving command can be further improved using the Save Complete Firefox add-on. Though, I didn’t notice much of a functional difference between the default and the add-on aided saves.
Chrome

Chrome also has a Save as option. You can access it from the Page icon that’s next to the address bar. You can also load the webpage and right click anywhere on the page to get to the context menu. Or do the quick keyboard thing with a press on Ctrl+S.



The same kind of Save As dialog window appears and lets you save the page as Web Page, complete in a location of your choice.
Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer also follows the conventional File ““ Save As routine. But just when you start to ho and hum, you will notice that Internet Explorer gives you another option in the Save as type dropdown. It reads ““ Web Archive, single file (*.mht).



This is exactly the kind of convenience you were looking for. Instead of a complete folder that tags along with each saved single HTML page, we now just have a single file. MHT orMHTML (MIME HTML) is a standard for saving a webpage as a single file. It was introduced by Microsoft as a way to tie together all webpage elements like images and HTML together into a single file.

Not all browsers are pally with this format. Opera is the only other popular browser that has the MHT save. Firefox users though can call upon two add-ons to handle this file standard, Mozilla Archive Format & UnMHT. Both these add-ons can be installed and used to open and save complete webpages.

The MHTML file format is one of the ways to save complete webpages as single files. But it is definitely not the best way because webpages get displayed differently across browsers. Also, MHTML is not so good when it comes to handling Javascript code that’s a usual part of webpage code.
Saving Complete Webpages With Firefox Add-Ons
Scrapbook Plus



Scrapbook Plus claims to be an improvement over the better known and similarly namedScrapbook. Tina did a very early review of Scrapbook in her two part series on Offline Browsing Anywhere Anytime (Part One & Part Two).

Scrapbook Plus is similar but aims to bring faster handling of all your saved pages. You can set options for what you want to retain from a webpage and the level of pages you want to link down to and save. You can capture all tabs and sort them in specified folders. Both Scrapbook and its Plus avatar come with the Combine feature.
Read It Later



We have written about Read It Later before. Read It Later is a browser plug-in that comes with absolute ease of use. With a single click you can save the currently displayed webpage. For offline use, just download your saved pages to the local machine and read it when you are away from the net.



You can click through links (instead of opening the pages) and save them for later reading using the “˜Click to Save‘ mode. All open tabs can be concurrently saved too.

The best part of Read It Later is its inter-operability between many browsers and mobile devices. Read It Later has a lot of official applications and a few user created ones that makes it one of the more recommended tools to have in your browser.
Saving Complete Webpages As PDF

Saving webpages as PDF files sounds like taking a few steps back. Especially after we have seen the ease add-ons bring to the task. But consider a tool like PDF Download. PDF Download can be installed as an add-on or a bookmarklet on most of the browsers (Google Chrome, Safari, Opera, Firefox, Flock and Internet Explorer).

How to hack a email password? I have the answer

In my last post i discussed some simple possibilities of how could someone hack into your email address and how to prevent it. But this time i am going a little technical to tell you more details and more tips on how to prevent it.
How will someone hack your email id?? It’s given below !

Brute Force Attack – It is , i think so , the easiest and the toughest way to hack a password. It’s easy as you don’t need to do anything , everything is done by the computer and the software and toughest because it can take away around 2 months or even more to hack a password.

This attack tries every damn combination of letters like aeoiwu or gdlokfka or anything until it breaks into your pass. More shorter your password the lesser time it will take to hack into the password.

Dictionary Attack – Similar to Brute Force is Dictionary attack. As the name suggests , this attack uses dictionary words so it takes less time and is an easy attack if the user has kept his password which matches a dictionary word only. If it is a combination of letters or is a phrase you can’t find it via this, you need to use Brute Force Attack.

Trojan Horse – It is the most used virus by hackers. it takes the least time to attack and reveal data. This is simply done by uploading a trojan
somewhere as some cookie or other thing and wen you visit the website , it starts getting downloaded. When it’s done your computer is now in control of the hacker. What ever program is written in the trojan horse it will perform it, like it has been programmed to send information from your browser to some other computer it will do that and so when you login to something via your browser , there goes your password.

Change Your Ip In Less Then 1 Minute

1. Click on "Start" in the bottom left hand corner of screen
2. Click on "Run"
3. Type in "command" and hit ok

You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen.

4. Type "ipconfig /release" just like that, and hit "enter"
5. Type "exit" and leave the prompt
6. Right-click on "Network Places" or "My Network Places" on your desktop.
7. Click on "properties"

You should now be on a screen with something titled "Local Area Connection", or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks.

8. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and click "properties"
9. Double-click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list under the "General" tab
10. Click on "Use the following IP address" under the "General" tab
11. Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).
12. Press "Tab" and it should automatically fill in the "Subnet Mask" section with default numbers.
13. Hit the "Ok" button here
14. Hit the "Ok" button again

You should now be back to the "Local Area Connection" screen.

15. Right-click back on "Local Area Connection" and go to properties again.
16. Go back to the "TCP/IP" settings
17. This time, select "Obtain an IP address automatically"

19. Hit "Ok" again
20. You now have a new IP address

With a little practice, you can easily get this process down to 15 seconds.

P.S:
This only changes your dynamic IP address, not your ISP/IP address. If you plan on hacking a website with this trick be extremely careful, because if they try a little, they can trace it back..

How to view blocked sites

You generally are not able to view a site because the access control list is configured in a firewall to block any attempts to site and pop-up an error message

The simplest way to overcome is to redirect the traffic - there are more than 1000 proxy servers on the net and they keep increasing everyday (so, no access control list can block all of them - if one is blocked search for other in google )

How to Post Your Resume Online

Steps

1. If you don't have a resume yet, create one as outlined in other WikiHows listed below.
2. Update your resume so that it is better formatted to be posted online.
   • Convert your resume to a text-only document (see the tips below).
   • Update the words and phrases in your resume so that an employer or recruiter doing an online search will find your resume.
     • For example: If you are a computer programmer and your job title was 'Programmer/Analyst II', but what you want a job for is really related to HTML webpage programming, you should make sure that you mention HTML, webpages, programming and other related words and phrases all over in your resume. Don't over-do it- your resume should still read nicely, but make sure that you include the keywords and phrases that you'll want to be found under.
   • Keep a Word formatted copy of your resume as many job boards also allow you to upload the .doc version. Plus, interested hiring managers will generally ask for a better formatted resume than what the job board offers them.
3. If your resume is long, you may want to consider preparing multiple specialized resumes for each type of job you would consider. This allows you to customize your resume to somewhat match your potential employer, without you even knowing who that employer is.
4. Create a cover letter that makes more sense to an employer who finds you online. You can't be specific and talk directly to your new boss by name on a job board, so you should change your cover letter to reflect that. Your cover letter should also be converted to a text-only document (see the tips below).
5. Target the big job boards first:

• The majority of the job boards ask you to paste a text-only resume. When a job board asks you to paste your resume, don't paste from an HTML or Microsoft Word formatted resume. Save your resume as a .txt file, open it in Notepad and format the spacing as follows:
  • Don't try to center or right-align text. This formatting will be lost and won't look the way you'd like it to. Left-align all text.
  • Since you won't be able to use bold, underline, or italics, you can still make things look nice by CAPITALIZING section headings and using blank lines between sections.
  • Put one or two blank lines between each job in your job history, then put just one carriage-return after each line of data.
• Consider using a professional resume writer who has experience with online resumes. It can be a science to put the right skills and phrases into a resume for you to come out on top of an employers search. If you do hire a resume writer, make sure and ask up front whether they have online posting experience and compare a few different writers.
• Consider using a resume posting service or a resume distribution service to save time and get the widest exposure quickly. Although most of distribution services cost from $50 - $100 dollars or more, how much money are you losing by not having your job more quickly? Using an outside service also allows you to focus your time on less tedious methods of job searching.
  • Pay attention to what you get for your money. Some sites send your resume out by email to employers and recruiters, some sites fax your resume to employers, and others actually post your resume online as if you had done it yourself. You may want to use one or more of these types of services.
  • If you compare different services to each other, make sure you understand which type of service each is providing so you can do an apples to apples comparison.
    • Most resume posting sites tell you how many sites you will be posted to. Don't just base your decision on the number of sites. This can be tricky because sometimes if you post your resume to one site, it is actually putting you out on various sister-sites at the same time. A big example of this is newspaper sites. Some of the companies list each newspaper or regional site and count it as one of the sites they post to. This artificially inflates their numbers above their competition.

• Make a decision about putting a street address on your resume. Some human resources managers require or strongly suggest putting one's home address on a resume, while others do not. Those who prefer or require it may see a home address as a sign of stability and may even discard resumes that lack home addresses on the basis that such an applicant is making it "seem like there is something to hide" from the company. However, when making this decision, weigh the privacy implications associated with this choice.
• Watch out for spam! Similar to your home address decision, the choice to use a particular email address on your resume is an important one. On almost every job site, when you register to post your resume online, you will need to provide an email address. Posting your email on job boards is a sure fire way to get both job prospects and a certain amount of spam. Consider getting a separate temporary email address which you can use for just your job search, then discard it when you are done. Some of the resume posting services can provide you with an email address on their servers and even filter out the spam for you.
